1. What is your project about? Have you ever felt sweaty at your back while carrying a backpack around when it was scorching outside? Well me too! I wanted to make a backpack that would be lightweight and still provide ventilation to the person wearing the backpack. The backpack I created is lightweight, durable, and is providing enough ventilation to the subject. I used many different materials and techniques to create the pads that lifted the backpack such as softer sponges and wrapping the sponges tighter or looser. 1. Why did you choose this project? I chose to do this project because I remember when it had gotten extremely hot outside around 43 degrees Celsius 110 degrees Fahrenheit and whenever I would put my backpack on I would instantly get sweaty at the back. I also chose this project because I talked with lots of people and they said that they find it annoying as well with their backpacks on during the hot weather so I wanted to create something that would not be bulky and would keep people cool. 1. What was your result/ overall conclusion? My overall conclusion was that a thicker softer sponge kept the backpack off the subject and was more comfortable. As an advancement to the prototype with the taller sponges I also added fans on either side of the backpack with removable pouches that if they don’t want air at their back they can fan their face. 1. Why is your project important? (Remember to put keywords for search!) My project is important because the backpack I created can revolutionize the way we create backpacks for everyday use. My project is also important because it keeps people from feeling uncomfortable at their back during warm weather and makes sure that their back does not overheat. The backpack provides a steady amount of ventilation which will keep the person cool.

Your project is amazing! I love the thought you put into it, it shows that you acare about the people using the product, not just the function of the backpack. The innitiative shows that you truly care and have a passion to solve problems! This is amzing! I love how you were able to identify all the probelms that could be associated with your idea and also found a good solution to all of them. Great work, again! You should be very proud!
Your innovative ventilated backpack project showcases impressive research into everyday heat discomfort, a thoughtful iterative design and methodology that evolved through three prototypes with clever use of household materials like sponges and fans, skillful execution in building and testing under real weather conditions, creative problem-solving such as incorporating removable solar-powered fan ideas for future improvements, and a clear, engaging presentation with sketches, procedures, and data tables that make your engineering process easy to follow—keep up the fantastic work, young engineer!
