Urban Heat Islands: How Pavement Materials Absorb and Retain Heat

This experiment investigates how three common urban pavement materials, which are asphalt, concrete, and red brick, differ in their capacity to absorb and retain thermal energy. Using a controlled heat lamp setup, surface temperatures were recorded over a 30-minute heating phase and 20-minute cooling phase to analyze each material's contribution to the Urban Heat Island effect

  1. Great scientific method! You also did a good job understanding the short comings of your experiment which is key to refining your study.

  2. Excellent presentation of your research because you found and used good resources in your bibliography. The results and comparisons for brick and concrete were very interesting. As you mentioned in your section on experimental limitations, you are correct by writing that you should have tested equal sizes of the pavements you chose to use.
    Also, your applications arising from your experimental data make sense and could be applied in hot arid regions on earth
    You still have two years in high school and this project could easily to continued. Thank you for allowing me to review ad judge your project.
