Pretty Birds Love Pretty Colors

This project is a way for me to find out which color my parakeet likes best. I did this project by wrapping a piece of yarn around a favorite treat of his (millet spray/seed) and giving him the treat. I then timed how long it took him to go to each color. I learned that he likes lighter colors best and this helps me know what colors of things to give him, such as toys or treats.
This is a creative and engaging behavioral experiment with clear variables and thoughtful reflection.

Your project was so fun to read! I love how you changed your materials from paper to yarn when you realized your bird was scared—that is exactly what a good animal scientist does. Your research into the history of parakeets in Australia added so much “flavor” to your experiment!
