I noticed bread at home gets moldy at different speeds, so I tested five types of bread to see which one would grow mold first. I put slices of sprouted wheat, sourdough, buttermilk, white, and French bread in sealed bags for 21 days. I found out that the sourdough grew the most mold (505mm!) because it had natural ingredients like honey and oats that mold loves to eat. The white and French breads grew no mold at all because they have preservatives that act like "shields." My project shows that if you buy fresh, natural bread, you should eat it fast before the mold takes over!

Really interesting project!! I always thought that the natural bread would mold the slowest and the least, it was surprising to find out otherwise!
