This experiment investigated which type of food attracts the most flies. The student tested three different food types: rotten banana, raw ground beef, and fruit snacks. Each food item was placed in a separate clear mason jar with a sticky trap positioned inside. The jars were placed outside in the same location for 24-hour periods, and the number of flies caught was recorded. The experiment was repeated over three trials to ensure accurate results. The student compared the number and type of flies attracted to each food source. Data showed that ground beef attracted the highest number of flies over time, while fruit snacks attracted none. The results help explain which foods are most likely to attract flies and why certain foods should not be left out.
