Biological soil crusts (aka biocrusts) are important to the desert, but people can hurt them by walking or biking on them. We took observations at two different local trails to see if our hypothesis was correct. Our hypothesis was that vegetation helps keep trails from getting wider and keeps soils undisturbed.
