My project is about the of different types of beddings for horses and finding out which is the most absorbent. I tested this by pouring a controlled amount of water into a tupperware filled with a certain type of bedding, letting it soak for thirty seconds, then straining the remaining water into a scale. I chose this project because it affects my horses and others as well everyday and should be more well known. The results proved that paper shavings are the most absorbent, then small wood shavings, then wood pellets, then large wood shavings and lastly straw. All in all, this project is important to others in the equestrian community because it provides valuable information on how to keep your horse happy and healthy.
I love how you used your research to set up your experiment! And you make super observations about how you could change the experiment in the future to make it even clearer, but your organization was already excellent. I like your observation about availability of each kind of bedding – I wonder if it changes not only from region to region but by vendor and order size? (Like, does paper bedding come in the bulk size a fairgrounds or racetrack might need?)
