Which alarm will cause the most human reaction? The alarms I have are a fire alarm, school bell, dog barking, and the AHH song. My hypothesis is that the fire alarm will make somebody react the most. My results were that my hypothesis was correct and that the fire alarm had the most reaction.
What an innovative and interesting project! You have done a tremendous job in coming up with an experiment that was not only entertaining to carry out, but also scientifically organized. It was also evident that you were very serious about your procedures and it was astonishing that you used video recording as a tool to record your data. You successfully applied your inherent inquisitiveness about a real-life situation into a controlled experiment. In your research next time, you could compute an average reaction time of each sound- this is an excellent method of processing your data when you have several people in your study as it allows you to consider individual differences in people. Your results chart was also quite well made and made me know your findings in a glance! Continue your good work you have a good scientific mind.
This is a creative and engaging project that explores how people react to different unexpected sounds. I really liked how you adjusted your original idea (measuring decibels) and redesigned your experiment to measure reaction time instead that shows flexible scientific thinking. Your procedure was clearly explained, and I was impressed that you recorded reactions like running, screaming, freezing, and jumping, then organized your data into a detailed table and graph. The chart comparing dog, bell, AHH, and fire alarms helped make your results easy to understand. It’s especially great that you tested multiple alarms and found clear differences in reaction times. Keep asking fun, real-world questions and testing them with measurable data you are developing strong scientific investigation skills!
Something I found really interesting is that all the alarms made someone scream.
