What really makes tennis balls fly?

My siblings and I like to play tennis. I know that it can be both hot and cold in Arizona, and I wanted to see if temperature can affect the distance that a tennis ball can travel. I know that tennis balls bounce, and this bounce is one of the factors that contribute to how far a tennis ball can travel. I decided to compare how tennis balls bounce when they are dropped from a certain height but when the balls are different temperatures. The amount that a tennis ball bounces directly affects a tennis match, and the ability to have a ball travel farther as well as faster. Not only does it affect how hard it comes off the racket when it is hit, but also how far it goes on a bounce when it hits the court.

I really like how you connected your experiment to something you actually enjoy doing, and then tested it in such a careful and detailed way. Your data collection was thorough, and it was impressive to see how clearly you showed the big difference in bounce between warm and cold tennis balls.
This is an excellent and very thorough project. You clearly explained your question, designed a careful experiment, and collected detailed data. I like how you controlled variables, used repeated trials, and even re‑tested all balls at room temperature to confirm your results. That shows strong scientific thinking. Your analysis and explanation of why temperature affects bounce were clear and well‑supported by your data. This is impressive work with great attention to detail. You’re on the path to becoming a great scientist!
