This project explores the question: What is the best way to germinate seeds? The purpose of this experiment was to compare how bean seeds grow in two different materials- cotton and soil. The goal was to determine which medium helps seeds sprout faster and which one supports better early plant development. The experiment focused on observing germination seed, stem growth and root formation. To test this, two cups were prepared: one filled with cotton balls and the other with soil. Bean seeds were placed in each cup, and both were given the same amount of water daily and placed in the same area to receive equal sunlight. By keeping the water light and seed type the same the only variable change was the planting material observations were recorded and over a two week period to check sprouting time and growth progress. The results show that the bean seeds in cotton germinated faster and sprouted earlier than those in soil. However the seeds planted in soil developed stronger stems and more established roots. This suggest the cotton is effective for a quick germination while soil provides nutrients that support healthier and stronger long-term growth.
