We Can Dig It!

What tool can dig the deepest hole? Students had discussions, found tools, and worked together to see what tool (that is available to us at school) can dig the deepest hole. We used spoons, shovels, rakes, timers, and rulers to find out the answer to our question. It turns out that there are a lot more factors that affect our outcome than we thought.

You all asked so many great questions, while completing your research. You all did a great job investigating which tool digs the deepest hole.
You tested ideas and tried again. That’s what builders do!
Thank you for doing this interesting project. I am amazed that you found so many tools at your school You had a lot of potential tools to try to dig a deep hole. Stay curious, young scientists!
I love the idea and how a daily play can become an exploratory engineering project.
