This project studies diamagnetism by showing how water creates weak repulsive forces when exposed to a magnet. It is important because it reveals a hidden property of common materials and helps explain a basic scientific principle. Students, science enthusiasts, and the public can benefit by learning how diamagnetism works. I expect to see water and a floating object shift when a magnet is near, showing diamagnetic repulsion.

  1. This was an excellent experiment. I think you may have seen this online and misunderstood the procedure (should have had a small container of water on a platform floating in the water), but you got around this and came up with an excellent result.
