The Tarnish Terminator: The quest for the shiniest penny

The purpose of this experiment was to determine which of 10 common household condiments and liquids is the most effective at removing copper oxide (tarnish) from pennies. We wanted to see if the chemical makeup of everyday items—specifically acidity and salt content—affects their ability to clean metal.

  1. It was smart to use a shine scale from 1-5! It was a great way to turn something that might be hard to measure in to real data!
