The Study of Temperature and Acidity’s Influence on the Growth of Plants

This project dives into climate change and how plants adapt to new temperatures and varying water conditions. In this project, two different plants will be exposed to hotter temperatures and given water that has a high level of acidity. Over time, the plants will be measured to see how tall they can grow. This will help to show which organisms can withstand different temperatures and acidity, and how each one can adapt to its environment. This can help solve real-world problems about how the Earth will change and how plants will change on Earth. In this project, different plants will be put into different conditions: room temperature, hotter temperatures, and the hottest temperatures, as well as basic water, acidic water, and the most acidic water. Each plant will be recorded and compared to see how the plants adapt and change. Doing this can show a possible future on Earth because of the changing environmental conditions. This is a small simulation of how plants could react to this possible future. By using growing tents to maintain higher temperatures, we can track data on the different conditions. Plants were placed inside the tents. A heating lamp in one and a heating pad in the other, while the plants with the room temperature didn’t need a growing tent and were placed by a window. And the plants were measured every day and watered every Friday, with daily misting to help stimulate growth. In the end, the project was an overall success. The data shows that the plants can adapt to a lower temperature and can adapt to highly acidic water. This experiment shows how plants in the real world will be able to adapt to the rising temperatures, but only until a certain temperature, after which the plants have a harder time growing. In this project, we also saw how well the plants were able to adjust to the higher levels of acidity.
