  1. Congratulations on a brilliant project! You did an excellent job of explaining the conflict between automatic cognitive processing (reading the word) and controlled cognitive processing (naming the color). Your results clearly proved that the ‘Stroop Effect’ is significantly reduced when using nonsense words because the brain doesn’t have a pre-stored meaning for them. This effectively isolates ‘automatic reading’ as the cause of the interference.

  2. This project explores an interesting psychological concept by examining whether the Stroop Effect changes when people read nonsense words instead of real color words. I appreciate that the project begins with a clear explanation of the Stroop Effect and the history behind it, which helps readers understand the scientific background of the experiment. The design of comparing incongruent color words with nonsense words is thoughtful because it directly tests whether automatic reading plays a role in the interference effect. The results showing faster response times and fewer mistakes with nonsense words support the idea that meaningful words trigger stronger cognitive interference. It was also good to see that time and mistakes were both measured, since that gives a clearer picture of performance. A possible improvement for future research could be to include more participants or test different age groups to see if the pattern stays the same across larger samples. This project does a strong job connecting psychology, cognition, and experimental testing.
