The Science Behind Motors

Energy and Change

Grade:
6
Teacher:
Michelle Wiltshire

My project is about the science behind motors and how they work. I thought it would be interesting to build a motor. Although I ran into a few issues, I was able to figure it out and build a working motor. It can be helpful to engineers to know what to build next.

  1. The project is quite an improvement on what has been known about Motors and their applications in real life. You have done well to show this and the basic working principle of a motor.

  2. Great job building your own working motor! It’s impressive that you experimented with different magnets and coil shapes to see what worked best. Your curiosity about how motors power everyday machines shows strong engineering thinking. Keep exploring and adding measurements to your experiments, you’re on the right track!

  3. Your systematic motor testing shows real engineering talent, your curiosity about how things work will take you far!
