My research question is which liquid affects the tooth health the most. I tested tea, gatorade and coke and put in eggs with the shells on. I put each of the eggs in the drinks and waited 3 hours. My hypothesis is that Coke will affect it the most because it has a lot of sugar and food dye. In conclusion my hypothesis was wrong Gatorade had the most damage than the other drinks.

  1. Nice experiment. Looks like you kept your materials and method organized. I think it might help your experiment to define what you would consider “damage” to the tooth before you begin another trial. You mentioned in your notebook that the egg became bubbly in the coke. All tests seemed to stain the teeth, but did any of the eggs appear to have holes or flakes of calcium missing from the Gatorade, tea, or coke? Could you extend the tests longer to see how long it would take for the egg shell to develop holes? Good job and this subject is worth studying.

  2. Your project is an important real-life question, and I like how you tested three drinks and took pictures to show your results. Your experiment steps were easy to follow, and your graph helped compare the drinks. It’s also great that you noticed your hypothesis was wrong, scientists learn from results like that.
    Good job!

  3. Excellent presentation of your research! I like that you researched how egg shells are similar to teeth before conducting your experiment. Great job!
