The Effect of Temperature on Chemical Reaction Time

ALKA SELTZER tablet is a medicine that people use as a pain reliever. It starts to fizz the moment it is dropped into water. Not only does this chemical reaction look cool, but I think it is important to know how chemicals react to different things, especially if it is medicine that someone is taking. My project question is, if the water temperature changes, will the chemical reaction change too? Based on my research, I think the outcome of my project will show that increasing the temperature of water will increase the chemical reaction to the alka-seltzer tablet making it dissolve faster. To do my experiment, I used room temperature water, hot water, and cold water. I did 3 trials of each temperature group. I was careful to measure the water, so the amount of water was the same, and the temperature of the water for each group was about the same too. I dropped one tablet for each trial, and timed how long it took to dissolve. The results of my experiment were as follows, the colder the water, the longer it took to dissolve. The hotter the water was, the faster the tablet dissolved. In conclusion my hypothesis was correct that the warmer the water, the faster the ALKA-SELTZER tablet will dissolve. The results from my experiment show there is a relationship between the temperature of the water and how fast the tablet dissolves.
