My research question is “How does light color affect plant growth?” My hypothesis was that the red color would grow the fastest and the blue color would grow more leaves. I also thought the plant under green light would grow slowest and grow smaller leaves. My hypothesis was incorrect because the red plant actually grew the largest leaves and the plant under neutral grew the smallest leaves.

  1. Great job thinking of the variables that may have affected your results. You will definitely be an asset in Plant and Environmental Science. Keep it up!

  2. The graphs you created communicate your results very well. Keep on sciencing!

  3. Food access and affordability is such an important societal issue and I appreciate that your research into grow lights can inform people about efficient home growing options. You did a nice job explaining the rationale for this investigation.

  4. You did an outstanding job exploring how different light colors affect plant growth. Your research, measurements, and explanations show a deep understanding of plant science, and your graphs and data analysis were especially impressive. To make your project even stronger next time, try increasing the number of seedlings that reach the starting height and consider measuring light intensity, so each color gets the same amount of energy. You could also test more colors like violet or yellow, just as you suggested. Overall, this is excellent scientific work, your curiosity and effort really shine!
