Our project, “The Bacteria on Unwashed Grapes and Washed Grapes,” investigates whether washing grapes reduces the amount of bacteria on their surface. We chose this project because many people eat fruit without washing it, and we wanted to find out if that could affect our health. In our experiment, we tested washed and unwashed grapes using petri dishes with agar and observed bacterial growth over five trials. The results showed that unwashed grapes consistently had more bacteria colonies than washed grapes, supporting my hypothesis that washing fruit reduces bacteria. Our overall conclusion is that washing grapes before eating them significantly lowers bacterial growth. This project is important because it helps people understand the importance of food safety and how a simple habit like washing fruit can help prevent foodborne illnesses and protect our health.

  1. This is a strong and meaningful project idea! I really like that you chose a topic that directly connects to everyday health and food safety. Comparing washed and unwashed grapes is practical, relevant, and something everyone can relate to. Using petri dishes with agar and running five trials also shows good effort and scientific thinking.

Your conclusion clearly connects back to your hypothesis, and it’s great that your results consistently supported your prediction. That kind of pattern strengthens your findings and shows careful observation.

  2. This project teaches the importance of good food hygiene, which is good for health.
