Strength Comparison of Three Welding Joints: Butt, Lap, and T‑Joint

This experiment evaluated the mechanical performance of three common weld joint configurations, Butt, Lap, and T-joints, by comparing maximum tensile and shear loads across nine welded specimens. All samples were produced using identical welding parameters to ensure consistency. Load-to-failure testing revealed that Butt joints had the highest average strength (4,453 N), followed by Lap joints (3,850 N) and T-joints (3,060 N). The results support the hypothesis that joint geometry significantly affects weld strength.
