Spray da Grubs

Our class was getting ready to start gardening. We wanted to plant sunflowers. We went outside to our garden bed to clean it up and turn the soil so the plants could grow. While we were cleaning, we saw lots of little worm creatures in the dirt. Some students tried to pick them out, but there were too many. We decided to find out what they were and if they were good or bad for our garden. We learned that they were garden grubs, and they are bad for plants. We looked up how to get rid of them and found out you can use water and dish soap. This made us wonder, “How will spraying the soap and water help get rid of the grubs?”

Great job on your project! You noticed a real problem in your garden and turned it into a smart science investigation. I liked how you tested two different ways of watering and carefully counted how many plants grew on each side. Your project showed strong observation, good teamwork, and thoughtful problem-solving. You learned something important from your results and used science to help your garden. Keep up the wonderful work!
How interesting! I wonder why the side watered with soapy water didn’t do as well. Do you think the garden grubs were the problem, or was the soapy water the problem? I’d love to continue your experiment! Well done!
