My project, “Speed vs. Screen: Does Gaming Sharpen Your Reaction Time?”, investigates whether playing video games improves how quickly a person responds to visual signals. I chose this project because video games are very popular, and I wanted to find out if gaming can actually benefit brain performance instead of just being entertainment. In my experiment, I compared the reaction times of gamers and non-gamers before and after playing a video game. The results showed that gamers had faster reaction times overall, improving from 250 milliseconds to 220 milliseconds, while non-gamers were slower and showed less improvement. My overall conclusion is that playing video games may help train the brain to react more quickly by improving attention and hand-eye coordination. This project is important because reaction time is a key skill in activities like driving, sports, and emergency situations, and understanding how gaming affects the brain can help us learn more about human health and behavior.
