Sonoran Desert Soil Erosion

Plants and the Environment
Ellis Windingstad

Grade:

Perla Villa

I tested different ground covers to see which works best to control soil erosion. I care about protecting nature. Plants control erosion best. Controlling erosion keeps the environment healthy because it allows water to soak into the ground and nourish plants and animals.

  1. You did an exceptional job investigating soil erosion in the Sonoran Desert. Your experiment was very well‑designed, and your use of replicates, precise measurements, and clear graphs shows advanced scientific thinking. Your explanation of why plant‑covered soil performed best was thoughtful and accurate. One way to make this project even stronger would be to measure the exact water flow rate to ensure identical rainfall intensity across trials. Overall, this is an outstanding and highly professional project, excellent work!
