1. What is your project about? Our project was to see if posting an interactive menu that lists the amount of sugar in each item at our school snack bar will affect student’s decisions to order healthier snacks. Our project was about decreasing the average amount of sugar that students eat. We tried to convince people to choose healthier options with less sugar. Since people tend to buy a lot of things at the snack bar, we looked at how crazy the sugar levels actually were. (They were extremely unhealthy, since kids would buy so many.) 1. Why did you choose this project? We chose this project because we noticed that the most popular snacks at the snack bar were extremely high in sugar levels. We wanted students to make healthier choices, so we showed kids how much sugar they should be having. We made displays that represented sugar levels to teach students about sugar, health, and being aware of what you are eating. We chose this project because we noticed that the most popular snacks at the snack bar were VERY high in sugar levels. We wanted students to make healthier choices, but in a fun way. We showed kids how much sugar they should be having, and made things that represented sugar levels to teach students about sugar, health, and being aware of what you are eating 1. What was your result/ overall conclusion? Our project had a very large effect on our school. When our interactive menu was posted to inform students about sugar levels in their favorite snacks, they became aware of their sugar intake, hence their decisions went from buying slushies (around 90 grams of sugar) to pretzels (barely a gram of sugar)! This decrease in sugar consumption will most likely help students focus and become fully engaged in their learning environment, supporting them in school and possibly getting better grades. Why is your project important? Our project made students' daily sugar consumption drop! This decrease in sugar consumption will most likely help students focus and become fully engaged in their learning environment, supporting them in school and possibly getting better grades. Our project made students' daily sugar consumption shoot down.
