our experiment revealed that red light ripened bananas more effiecently than blue light. The independent variable in this study was the color of the light, while the dependent variable was the rate of banana ripening. The strong relationship between these variables highlighted how the type of light impacted the ripening process. We werent overly surprised by our findings as they supported our initial hypothesis which was informed by prior research. Both red and blue light stimulate the production of ethylene, a key hormone that accelerates ripening. However, blue light lacks chlorophyll, which causes the fruit to lose its green color. blue light also doesnt cause as much suger accumulation, while red light boosts sugar levels, sending stronger signals to the fruit to mature, as well as chlorophyll. ultimately, our results indicated that red light was the most effective in ripening bananas, yielding the best results overall.
