I have seen a lot of unhoused people dehydrated due to not having much water in the hot sun. Tucson has a lot of hot and sunny days so I decided to make something to help them. Can I make a solar oven cheap but useful for under $10 that kills bacteria in water?
You did an incredible job identifying a real-world problem in Tucson and using your engineering skills to solve it! Your use of an emergency blanket was a very clever alternative to standard foil. Your graph was very easy to read and clearly showed exactly when the water became safe to drink. For your next project, you might try testing the oven on three different days to see how consistent the results are in different weather!
The thinking, structure, and conclusions already show strong scientific skills. Also you’re not just experimenting but designing and analyzing which is impressive.
