PathFinder App: Personalized Career Exploration Based on Student Interests

Many students feel confused and stressed when thinking about what career they want to have in the future. There are so many different job options that it can be overwhelming to know where to start. I created PathFinder because this is a problem I personally experience, and I wanted to design a tool that helps students feel less anxious and more confident about their future choices. PathFinder is an app designed to help students explore possible careers based on their interests and personality. Users answer simple questions about things they enjoy doing, such as gardening, technology, art, or helping others. Based on their answers, the app recommends three careers that match their interests. Each career recommendation includes a description explaining what the job involves and why it could be a good fit for the user. For example, if a user selects "Gardening" as an interest, PathFinder may suggest careers such as Landscape Architect, Botanical Scientist, or Greenhouse Manager. This allows students to see how their interests can connect to real-world careers they may not have known about before. PathFinder demonstrates empathy by supporting students who feel unsure about their future and helping reduce the stress of career planning. By connecting what students already enjoy with meaningful career options, this project shows how technology can be used to help young people make informed and personalized decisions about their future.
