I did this project because I wanted to make a healthier version of Pine Tar. Pine Tar is not great for you because it is messy and it ruins your batting gloves. Pine Tar is bad for you because the process of making it releases fumes that are bad for you to inhale. I made sticky substances that are the same texture as Pine Tar to replicate a similar grip. The main ingredients I used were honey and cornstarch, white glue and cornstarch, as well as marshmallow and cornstarch. I tested them all to see which is the most effective.

  1. The project appears to be something you care so much about and this is evident in your presentation. Your project is relatable and can be applied to solve real-world problem. Your ability to explain the process/concept makes your work very interesting.

  2. Great job creating a safer, homemade bat grip, sustainability is the next big scientific trend, and what you did is truly scientific and environmentally smart. I like how you tested different ingredients and thought carefully about how sticky each one was. For next time, finding a way to measure stickiness instead of just using touch would make your results even stronger.

  3. Thank you for the effort you put into this project. You explored an interesting idea by creating and testing different homemade sticky mixtures. It was great to see you compare your results to find which one worked best. Nice work.
