We wanted to find out if what students see around them could help increase standardized test scores. We measured common objects and made labels for them in standard units of centimeters, inches, and feet. We utilized large sets of data obtained from quarterly standardized MAP testing results. We performed data analysis on fall and winter scores by grade level. We analyzed as many grades as possible to determine if younger or older students may be more influenced by the labeled measurements. After visualizing our measurement labels around the school, it was determined that test scores in the Measurements category on the Standardized MAP Test went up at least 5 points by elementary students (grades 2-5). However, it was also determined that middle school students (grades 6-8) saw very little or no increase in the Measurements category on the Standardized MAP Test.

This is extremely interesting. Clearly, if students pay attention to the signs, they knowledge improves. Your’s sure did! Nice work.
