Many streets across the U.S. remain unlit, and it’s no question why. Nearly 40% of a municipality’s energy consumption will be used on what little lighting there is. Moreover, the lighting we have in place creates light pollution. This is unsafe, uneconomical, unhealthy for the environment, and, overall, unsustainable. There is a solution to this, however. Glow-in-the-dark chemicals can be used to provide a soft glow that doesn’t require electricity to produce. Lucem discs utilize this to absorb U.V rays and emit them as light at night, while also being durable enough to sustain the conditions of nature.
