Little Readers, Big Words!

Human Health and Behavior

Grade:
K
Teacher:
Lindsay Linde

Our kindergarten class works really hard each week to learn our sight words! We play Bingo, listen to songs, map the words, sort the words, play with the words and even practice them at home! By the end of the year we need to know 50 words which feels like a lot! Because of this one of our classmates asked , “What is the best way to learn our sight words?” We talked about the different methods we would be testing and the students decided that… If students use the multisensory method to learn sight words they will recognize more sight words correctly than with the other two methods.

  1. Learning sight words is so important when you are in kindergarten. Your experiment helped you to figure out which learning method works best for you!

  2. I loved reading about your project on learning site words. My favorite part was all the different and creative methods you used to learn your words. I thought it was so cool how you looked at which method helped you learn the most words, and which method was the most fun. You asked exciting questions and documented your work with attention to detail. I can’t wait to see what you discover next!

  3. As a Literacy Coach, in GA, I LOVE THIS! Thank you for igniting your young learners and encouraging a love of reading. I’ve used all these methods and “collage” crafting for my students over the decades.
‘Continue to explore and question…always reading!
