My project, “How Does an ELF (Electric Floor) Help Power a House?”, explores how pressure and movement from stepping on a special electric floor can generate electricity using magnets and copper wires. I chose this project because electricity costs are increasing, and I wanted to learn how alternative energy sources like kinetic energy can help create cleaner and more sustainable power in the future. In my experiment, I stepped on the electric floor system and measured the voltage produced, which ranged from 15 to 30 volts. My results showed that the electric floor successfully generated electricity, but the voltage was still too low to power a house, meaning improvements are needed to increase energy output and storage. My overall conclusion is that electric floors can convert movement into electrical energy, but the system must be improved to become more practical. This project is important because it shows how renewable energy technology can help reduce electricity use and support a cleaner future.
