How Do Crystals Grow?

Plants and the Environment

Grade:
K
Teacher:
Faith Elkanany

In this project, we explored how crystals grow. We mixed borax and hot water to make a solution. Then we placed a string in the jar and waited. Each day, we observed what happened and recorded our observations in our science journals. Over time, we saw hard, shiny crystals begin to form on the string. We learned that crystals grow when the water cools and the borax forms solid shapes. This experiment helped us understand how crystals can grow and change over time.

  1. Wow! I loved learning about your project on how to make crystals. My favorite part was seeing pictures of your process. I thought it was so cool how you included your crystals as part of your poster. You all made some really cool shapes and animals! You asked exciting questions and documented your work with attention to detail. Keep exploring, I am excited to see what you discover next.
