Heating Liquids with Sound

Energy and Change

Rebecca Hildenbrand

My project is about how liquids can be heated with sound. I chose this project because I thought that it could be useful for the environment and future research. My result was that liquids can be heated with sound, and out of the four liquids I used, the very cold water's temperature changed the most. My project is important because it can contribute to further research, and eventually develop into a more environmentally responsible way with the omission of fossil fuels to heat liquids.

  1. Outstanding work! Your project shows deep scientific thinking and excellent experimentation. I was especially impressed by your detailed data collection, multiple trials, and your honest reflection about unexpected results. Exploring how sound energy can affect temperature is creative and ambitious. Keep asking big scientific questions, you are thinking like a real researcher!
