I have had my guinea pig, Reeses, for about 3 years and I have tried so many types of hay holders that shouldn’t spill hay but none of them have worked. (I have had this problem ever since I got Reeses) and I hope this engineering project will help with this HAYtastrophe. I will engineer and design 3 prototypes to see which one keeps his hay in place. His hay is scattered everywhere and really makes his cage look messy and cluttered. So with this project I hope Reeses will feel more comfortable and happy.

This is a thoughtful and well-developed engineering project that demonstrates creativity, persistence, and strong personal investment. The student clearly followed the engineering design process by building multiple prototypes, testing them, evaluating flaws, and selecting the best solution. The dedication to improving animal care is commendable and clearly communicated throughout the presentation.
“Haytastrophe” is such a clever name for a truly excellent project! Your commitment to testing each prototype for two weeks shows that you wanted to be absolutely sure of your results. It was heart-touching to see that you finished this project in honor of Reeses. I am so sorry to hear about Reeses, but it is clear you made his environment much happier with your hard work! You proved that good engineering can make a big difference in an animal’s comfort and happiness!
