For a couple years, I loved to learn new and interesting facts about scorpions. And when me and my grandma were in sabino canyon in the evening looking for scorpions, I noticed that there were scorpions on each side of the road. And then on either side of the road where the scorpions were, their two habitats were different, this made me wonder, which ecosystem the scorpions would like better? This is how I came up with my project on if human construction affects scorpion habitats and how it affects population.

  1. This is a strong field-based ecology project that connects human impact to wildlife populations using real data collection.

  2. This project asks an interesting ecological question and shows strong curiosity and effort.

  3. Your project highlights a very important concept in conservation called “habitat fragmentation.” It was wonderful to see how you used your curiosity about scorpions to think about the bigger impact humans have on the desert. Your call to protect wildlife habitats is very persuasive!
