Critter Structures in our Home Ecosystems

Animal Science

Grade:
5
Teacher:
Elisabeth Gingrich

We have lots of critters in our ecosystems. Last summer was soooo hot. I challenged all of the students to make a critter shade structure prototype to help provide shade and a place for critters to drink water. We then practiced our observation skills and communicated our results.

  1. What a fantastic group effort! Using “SCRUM meetings” to discuss your results is exactly how professional engineers work together on big projects. I loved reading about the butterfly that used your structure as a “pit stop”—it shows that your engineering truly helped a living creature survive the heat. You should be very proud of how you used your observation skills to help your local ecosystem!
