My science project is about how pool water affects different types of fabric. I tested how chlorine and salt water change the color and strength of fabrics over time. I chose this project because many people swim in pools, and I wanted to understand why swimsuits fade or wear out so quickly. After conducting my experiment, I found that fabrics placed in chlorinated water faded faster and showed more damage compared to those in plain water. My overall conclusion is that chlorine causes a chemical change that weakens fabric fibers and removes dye. This project is important because it helps people make better choices when buying swimwear and teaches us how chemicals in our environment can affect everyday materials.
