Color Me Hungry

My project is an experiment to discover which color bird feeder birds prefer when they are looking for food. I chose this project because I wanted to understand what colors attract birds the most so I can help people choose the right feeders to keep birds fed, strong, and healthy in their yards during all seasons. After testing four colors (red, yellow, green, blue), my results showed that the yellow feeder was the most popular, which proved my hypothesis that birds would choose the natural green color feeder was incorrect. This project is important because it helps people know how to bring more birds to their yards and shows that different bird species have different color preferences too.

  1. This was a great project. I thought for sure your experiment would prove red to be the preferred color, as most store bought birdfeeders are red. You proved them wrong! Congratulations on a great project.
