Your love for your pets shows in this experiment! This motivated you to find a way to identify evidence of left behind by a cat. Also you recognized that all participants or subjects may not necessarily follow procedures. Like the cats which didn’t cooperate, imagine if a patient in a drug trail just spit out the medications rather than taking them! Results may not be valid or available when the participants behavior cannot be controlled. It is good science to divulge know when this occurs.
I found this project absolutely delightful and enjoyed reading it and shared with others. You found the plusses and minuses of working with live animals and tested your hypothesis.
I have never considered whether cats have unique paw prints, but this experiment revealed that they probably do! The experiment is well presented and very interesting to read. It would be easy to expand the test population to check if your hypothesis holds true for (let’s say…) 100 cats. Very good job, Gareth!
