Food is one of the main items that is needed to be able to function in our day to day lives. The food we consume is digested and absorbed by our somatic cells, however it is not just our own cells that break down the food. Our microbiome plays an important role. These microscopic organisms are called microbiota. These organisms are essential for your gut health to prevent dysbiosis. People who experience homelessness typically don’t have the money for nutrient-dense foods. This results in the higher likelihood of dysbiosis which can impact their mental health.

  1. This is a wonderful project and I appreciate how you took the time to consult different sources to answer your research question. Your methodologies was outlined beautifully and clearly – I liked how your slides followed the methods in order. I think this is an awesome topic to cover as it relates to issues we face in society today and your future research section encapsulates that nicely.
