This engineering project takes inspiration from desert plants and animals that efficiently collect and conserve water in dry environments. Using this inspiration, the project focuses on designing and building a low-cost rainwater capture device made from inexpensive, widely available materials. Several design features were tested to improve water collection, reduce evaporation, and increase durability. The effectiveness of the final design was evaluated by measuring the amount of water collected during simulated rainfall. The goal of this project is to demonstrate how nature-inspired engineering can provide accessible and practical solutions for water conservation.
