Automatic Watering System

Applied Technology
Anneliese Williams

Grade:
7
Teacher:
Debbie Fitzpatrick

Using arduino coding system, the project can automatically water a plant as long as the soil moisture for the said plant is coded into the system. The project consists of being event based rather than time based, based on soil moisture of the plant. The project does not require human interference nor interaction of any kind once it is set and the person with the project has clicked the blue and black arrow, unless they would like to apply changes or edits to the codes. The plant can functionally stay alive and healthy as long as the plant has sun, shade and most importantly, water.

  1. Your automatic watering system project is an impressive demonstration of real-world engineering, as you combined solid research on optimal soil moisture with a clearly defined problem and closed-loop control requirements, thoughtfully designed and wired an Arduino-based system with sensors, relays, and a solenoid valve, successfully coded and tested the microcontroller to maintain a 50% moisture target, creatively applied automation to solve a practical everyday challenge, and presented your process with detailed procedures, code visuals, and reflective conclusions that show both technical growth and perseverance as a young engineer. KEEP IT UP!
