My project is testing if ants are more repeled more by duos or trios of essential oils rather than just one. I chose this project because fire ants love to crawl around my backyard and bite me. My result was that many of the singles did better than the combinations but either of then would keep ants away. My project is important because many people use pesticides or insecticides to keep ants away but I want to find a clean way to keep tham out of my way.
This is outstanding scientific work! You asked a smart question: Do combinations of essential oils repel ants better than single oils? and designed a two-part experiment to find out. Your methodology was exceptional: testing seven oils individually, selecting the top three, then testing duos and a trio with lower concentrations. Running five replicates per treatment and photographing each trial shows real dedication to good science. Even more impressive was your honest interpretation when your hypothesis wasn’t supported. You realized that concentration matters more than combination and thoughtfully explained why. That is exactly what real scientists do when data surprises them. Wonderful work!
