Analyzing Ocimum plants using Smartphone-Based Image Analysis for Early Detection of Drought Stress prior to visual evidence

I took pictures of 3 leaves in each of the six basil plants every day, splitting them into two different groups: three controlled and three stressed. Then, I used the Astro ImageJ software to measure only the green channel intensity in specific leaf regions using the free hand selection method. Unwatered plants showed a trend toward lower greenness compared to watered plants, even though the difference was not statistically significant due to the small sample size and limited time. The project still shows that smartphone image analysis has potential for early stress detection, but with more plants and more time, it would strengthen the effect, and give us clearer results.
