A Ball Thrower for Dogs

Animal Science
Blake Davenport

Grade:
5
Teacher:
Cori Friezen

My dog is super playful. I like playing with her but sometimes it gets annoying. Her tennis balls keep getting stuck under the couch. I want to build and test a ball thrower. I want measure different types of balls to see how far they go.

  1. This is a very strong Grade 5 engineering project that demonstrates excellent construction skills, repeated testing, and clear data analysis.

  2. This is a very srong engineering experiment. it clearly identified a real-life problem, designed a working solution, tested it and colletced real data with multiple trials.

  3. This is an outstanding engineering project! The way you tested 10 times for each ball type shows that you value “adequate trials” and reliable data. I was particularly impressed by your diagram—it’s very clear and looks like it could be used by someone else to build the same thrower. I hope your dog enjoys the 21-foot tosses!
