What a wonderful bird study! You asked a simple but important question: which seeds do birds prefer?, and designed a careful experiment to find out. I was impressed that you researched the “5-7-9 rule” for feeder placement and used it consistently. Even more impressive was your perseverance: when no birds came for the first three trials, you didn’t give up. You extended the time and kept trying. That patience paid off! You attracted five different species and discovered that safflower seeds were the favorite in your yard, even though your hypothesis predicted sunflower. That is exactly how science works: letting the data guide your conclusions. Your photos of the Pine Siskin and Mourning dove are beautiful. Excellent work!
