Water Wall of Efflorescence Experiment

My science project combined my interests in architecture, science, engineering, and nature to explore why walls that are made out of different bricks absorb water at different rates. I also discovered that the white substance that is left on the surface of the bricks after it rains is called efflorescence or wall salt. This is a chemical reaction that happens when salt minerals meet water. Water will naturally dissolve salt that will be left behind on the bricks surface through evaporation.

  1. I learned about efflorescence! Your project was original and related to something you noticed and wondered about in your life. That is what engineers and scientists do! Way to go!
