The Power of Chemical Reactions: Bottle Rockets

Five groups of 5th grade students are exploring a chemical reaction by combining an acid and base found in vinegar and baking soda. Students will observe the reaction of this combination in group constructed plastic bottled rockets. They are to measure the height of the launch and reflect on the power of said chemical reaction in an enclosed plastic water bottle.
